To begin using the Training CAD integration with CommsCoach, follow these steps to ensure proper setup and data flow.

📞 Step 1: Contact Your Customer Experience Representative

Before configuration begins, please reach out to your Customer Experience representative. They will coordinate with our Technical Services team to:

  • Create a dedicated connector for your Training CAD environment

  • Ensure the connector is properly scoped for your training use case

  • Confirm any prerequisites or system requirements

Once the connector is provisioned, you’ll receive confirmation and you can begin configuration.

⚙️ Step 2: Configure the Training CAD Connector

After receiving confirmation, configure the connector using the Data Agent interface:

  1. Confirm Access to the Training Environment

    • If your Training CAD system uses a SQL database:

      • Ensure the database is reachable from the Data Agent host machine.

      • Create a SQL user account with read access to the necessary tables.

      • Have the SQL username and password ready for connector setup.

  2. Open the Data Agent Host Machine

    • Launch a browser on the machine where the Data Agent is installed.

    • Navigate to: http://localhost:5000

  3. Access the Connector Settings

    • Go to the Connectors tab.

    • Locate the Training CAD connector and click Stop.

  4. Update Connection Details

    • Mirror the configuration used for your live CAD connector.

    • Update only the following fields to reflect your training environment:

      • Host: Use the training database server address.

      • Username: Enter the SQL user created for training access.

      • Password: Enter the corresponding password.

  5. Save and Restart

    • Click Save to apply the changes.

    • Click Start to reactivate the connector with the new configuration.

✏️ Step 3: Configuring Simulations to Use Training CAD

To ensure successful data ingestion:

  • Open CommsCoach (https://app.govworx.net/)

  • Navigate to Simulate on the left navigation bar

  • Click on Settings then Screen Layout

  • Select the "Using Simulate CAD Screen" toggle on upper right. It will then say "Using Training CAD" when it's toggled on

  • Click confirm on the pop-up window

  • Verify that all users on the users screen have been synced between CommsCoach and Simulation

This step will allow you to utilize your training CAD instead of the built in "CAD" screen during simulations

🧪 Step 4: Run a Scheduled Test Call

During your scheduled test:

  1. Verify that the call taker was logged in with matching user credentials across both training CAD and CommsCoach.

  2. Conduct a training incident in the Training CAD system while taking a Simulation call.

  3. End the simulation call

  4. Confirm the call is marked closed in training CAD.

  5. Check the logs within the Data Agent to verify there are no errors

  6. After a few minutes, navigate to CommsCoach again then check events for SIM calls

    • You may need to toggle on the "Include simulations" in the filters, located on the bottom

📋 Summary Checklist

Validation Step

Expected Outcome

Training connector configured

Allows for Data Agent to ingest incidents from training environment

Training CAD call marked closed

Eligible for connector ingestion

Personnel ID matches Call Taker ID

Incident correctly linked to CommsCoach user

(Optional) Database access

Confirms incident presence and closed timestamp

If you have any questions during setup or testing, your Customer Experience representative is your best point of contact. They’ll ensure Technical Services can assist with any connector adjustments or troubleshooting.
