Overview

The Data Agent reads closed calls from the i3 Verticals InterOp SQL Server database. It reads the CAD history tables with read-only SQL queries. It does not create stored procedures, views, temp tables, or any other objects in the CAD database. To do this we need a read-only user to connect to the database.

The Data Agent sends a call to GovWorx only after the call closes and the settle time passes. A call does not appear in CommsCoach while it is in progress. On the first run, the Data Agent looks back the number of hours in the first-run lookback setting. Later runs continue from the last position saved. We recommend a polling interval of 5 minutes.

This CAD stores timestamps in local time. Keep the UTC Timestamps setting off for this connector.

SQL Server Configuration Notes

To ensure a successful and secure connection, verify the following:

  • Firewall Access: Ensure the server hosting the GovWorx Data Agent can reach the SQL Server over the appropriate network and port (typically TCP 1433).

  • Minimum Permissions: The provided database user must have read-only access to the CAD database. Write access is not required or recommended.

  • Instance Visibility: If using a named instance, confirm SQL Server Browser service is running, or explicitly provide the port number.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Server name does not resolve? Enter the IP address of the SQL Server in the Host setting.

  • Login fails with the correct password? Avoid special characters such as ! in the password. They can break the connection.

  • Login Failed? Verify the SQL user is enabled and not locked out.

  • Timeout Errors? Check network routes and firewall rules.

  • Invalid Database? Ensure the database field in the config matches the actual database name.

Network Requirements: The server running the Data Agent should be able to connect to the CAD database server over port 1433. This can be tested using PowerShell.

PowerShell Command:

Test-NetConnection -ComputerName {CAD database server name or IP} -Port 1433

Standard Data Fields

These are the standard data fields the Data Agent reads from i3 Verticals InterOp. The Data Agent reads closed calls from the history tables. The tables below show each GovWorx field and the i3 Verticals InterOp column it comes from. Source names are Adm_Cfs_History columns unless the row says otherwise.

Note: Additional fields are considered enhancement requests.

Incident fields

GovWorx field

i3 Verticals InterOp source

Notes

Incident ID

Adm_Cfs_History.ID

CAD record key.

Incident Number

Call_Number

Left empty when the value is CANCELLED.

Case Number

CASENUMBERS

Incident Type

Call_Code

Uses the primary call code description from Adm_Cfs_Call_Codes_History when one exists.

Caller Number

Caller_Phone

Uses Incident_Telephone when Caller_Phone is empty.

Caller Name

Caller_First, Caller_Last

First and last name joined with a space.

Agency Type

INVOLVES_LAW, INVOLVES_FIR, INVOLVES_EMS

Each flag that is set adds LAW, FIRE, or EMS, joined with a slash (for example LAW/EMS).

Incident Date

t_Received

Disposition

Adm_CFS_Dispo_History.Description

Uses Code when Description is empty. All dispositions, joined with commas.

Location

Common_Place, Street_Number, Street_Name, Apartment, City, Subdivision, Cross_Street_1, Cross_Street_2

The Data Agent sends each part. GovWorx builds the Location text from the location format set for your organization.

Priority

Call_Priority

Left empty when the value is 0.

Latitude

Lat

Longitude

Lng

Call Taker Name

Call_Taker

Call Source

CALL_SOURCE

The Excluded call sources setting skips calls with the listed values.

Call Received Time

t_Received

The earliest CAD note timestamp setting replaces this with the earliest note time.

Closed At

t_Cleared

The Data Agent reads a call only after it has a close time and the settle time has passed.

Dispatch Queue At

t_Dispatched

Response Area

Patrol_Zone

Uses Law_Resp_Zone, then Fire_Resp_Zone, then Ems_Resp_Zone when Patrol_Zone is empty.

Note Text

Adm_CFS_Remarks_History.REMARK_PLAINTEXT

Uses REMARK when REMARK_PLAINTEXT is empty.

Adm_CFS_Remarks_History.ENTERED_BY

Note Time

Adm_CFS_Remarks_History.DATE_ENTERED

Responders and units

GovWorx field

i3 Verticals InterOp source

Notes

Unit Name

Adm_Unit_Times_History.Unit_ID

One responder for each unit on the call.

Dispatched At

Adm_Unit_Times_History.Status_Time

The earliest time of a status code that the Status map maps to dispatched. Default code: DIS.

Enroute At

Adm_Unit_Times_History.Status_Time

The earliest time of a status code that the Status map maps to enroute. Default code: ENR.

Arrived At

Adm_Unit_Times_History.Status_Time

The earliest time of a status code that the Status map maps to arrived. Default codes: ARR and ONS.

Cleared At

Adm_Unit_Times_History.Status_Time

The latest time of a status code that the Status map maps to cleared. Default code: CLR.

Data Agent Settings

To prepare for this connection, we need the following details. These are settings in the GovWorx Data Agent configuration for this connector. A toggle is an on/off switch in that configuration.

Setting

Type

Explanation

Host*

Text

Host of the CAD database. Use the server IP address if the server name does not resolve.

Use Integrated Security**

Toggle

Toggle will enable the use of a domain service account that is configured to run the agent service as authentication to SQL server

Username**

Text

Read-only database user

Password**

Password

Database password. Avoid special characters such as ! in the password.

Database*

Text

Name of the CAD database to read from, for example CADNet

First-run lookback in hours used only when no last-run cursor exists yet (default: 2)

Number

Hours back to look on the first run. After the first run, the saved position takes precedence. Default: 2. Maximum: 168.

Maximum lookback in hours: caps how far back a stale cursor can reach (default: 24)

Number

Caps how far back the Data Agent reads when the saved position is old, for example after the Data Agent was offline. Default: 24. Maximum: 168.

Minutes to wait after close before delivering, so child rows committed just after the parent are included (default: 5)

Number

Minutes to wait after a call closes before the Data Agent reads it. The wait lets late notes and unit times reach the CAD database first. Default: 5. Maximum: 120.

Comma-separated CALL_SOURCE values to skip (default: CASENUM-REQ)

Text

Comma separated CALL_SOURCE values to skip. Default: CASENUM-REQ. These rows are case number requests, not real calls. They have no incident type and open and close within a few seconds.

SQL command timeout in seconds (leave blank for default 30s)

Number

Leave blank for the default of 30 seconds

JSON map of Adm_Unit_Times_History.Status to responder field (dispatched/enroute/arrived/cleared)

Text

JSON that maps each unit status code to a responder time. Allowed values: dispatched, enroute, arrived, cleared. Default: {"DIS":"dispatched","ENR":"enroute","ARR":"arrived","ONS":"arrived","CLR":"cleared"}. The Data Agent ignores status codes that are not in the map. A site that uses other codes can change the map. If the JSON is not valid, the Data Agent uses the default.

Use earliest CAD note timestamp for Received At

Toggle

Toggle will use the earliest CAD note time as Call Received Time. Use it when the first note marks the start of the call better than the CAD pickup time. Call Pickup Time does not change. When no note has a time, Call Received Time stays as read from CAD. Default: off. This setting is on every CAD connector.

Note: *: Required. **: Either Integrated Security or (Username and Password) is required.
